CoE RAISE participated at the 4th Baltic HPC and Cloud Conference
On April 11-12, the 4th Baltic HPC and Cloud Conference took place in Riga, Latvia. The on-site event was hosted by Riga Technical University, however it was a collaborative event by several National HPC Competence centers (NCCs) in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden, FInland, and Denmark in the framework of EuroCC 2 project.
The conference focused on topics that are currently important for all Baltic region countries – HPC support for industry (including collaboration between NCCs and European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs)). An important role was given to centres of excellence (CoEs), as far as closer collaboration is to be strengthen betwween NCCs and CoEs in the future. CoE RAISE was one of the CoEs participating at the pitch session and latter at the booth where all conference participants could find out more about CoEs and communicate with CoEs representatives in more informal environment. During the CoE pitch session, our colleague Arnis Lektauers had the opportunity to give the audience a general overview of the RAISE project, specifically in which use cases RTU is involved and the reference to the RAISE Training Portal that has been created.
As far as this conference was postponed for e few years, it was important to emphasize the need for HPC and support form the government, a few discussions took place, including one with governmental representatives and another where the three Baltic countries were in hte spotlight. In addition to great keynote presentations, the conference also included sections about the latest developments in HPC training, developments in HPC interfaces, cross-institutional access to HPC, as well as Quantum computing.
